Gentle Tides is a trio of internationally experienced musicians blending bossa nova, smooth jazz, world music, and original compositions into an elegant and soulful sound. Over the past year, the ensemble has performed at festivals including Antigonish Jazz Festival, Nova Multicultural Festival (Dartmouth), and Mosaic Festival (Halifax Waterfront).
About the Artists
Anna Shabalina - Vocals & Cello
A classically trained cellist and vocalist, Anna's musical journey took her far beyond classical traditions. Drawn to Latin American music and jazz, she naturally found her voice in bossa nova. In addition to performing, she is the manager and driving force of Gentle Tides, overseeing everything from music to marketing.
Alex Maizlish -- Guitar & Vocals
A singer-songwriter, composer, and arranger, Alex's background in choral music and a cappella shaped his deep musical sensibility. Though experienced in multiple instruments, his guitar playing and rhythmic feel are central to Gentle Tides' smooth and sophisticated sound. His arranging and compositional skills, along with his original music, play a vital role in shaping the trio's unique interpretations.
Linar Rizatdin – Bass
As the artistic director and visionary behind the project, Linar brings a wealth of experience from diverse musical worlds. From classical theatre orchestras to jazz, folk-rock, and world music ensembles, his unique bass playing and arranging add depth and warmth to the trio's sound.
