Maxim & Gervais Cormier

Maxim & Gervais Cormier are a Cape Breton–based acoustic instrumental duo whose music blends virtuosity, tradition, and deep family connection. Guitarist Maxim Cormier, one of Canada’s most decorated and genre-defying musicians, is known for his innovative approach that draws from classical, jazz, and world influences, earning multiple awards and critical acclaim.

His father, Gervais Cormier, is a seasoned multi-instrumentalist with decades of experience performing alongside many of Cape Breton and Acadian music’s most respected artists, as well as contributing as a songwriter and collaborator.

Together, they create music marked by expressive interplay and a shared cultural heritage, as heard on their albums Cape Breton Guitar and Live @ Fortress of Louisbourg.
